As it is now May, it is a time to honor those individuals that have been mothers, or are about to be mothers. The women who guide the lives of their children and grandchildren through example and through expression that is meant to act as a lesson to others. As well as in some cases, the lives of others around them that they may not necessarily be related to. So with that in mind, this Mother’s Day it is important to take a second and to show gratitude to the women who seek to make sure that the lives of their families are the best that they can be, even if sometimes it may or may not seem like that is the case.
Taking a second to look at some of the events that are to take place in the City of Oroville during the month of May, one event that stands out is the annual Feather Fiesta Days parade, set to take place this year on May 10th. According to the official description offered through the activities page of the Chamber of Commerce, the theme for this year’s event is that of community service, which would seem to be a fitting description as the case would be, since like many smaller communities, the city of Oroville would largely be based upon the principles of being about community. An event that seeks to draw together members of the public and the purpose being the desire to come together as a unit, with the intention of enjoying the company of others. For more information on this event and other events that are taking place in May, as well as the months ahead, make sure to check out the website for the Oroville Chamber of Commerce at http://oroville.chamberofcommerce.me/members/calendar6.php?org_id=ORCC&td=1400817600
Moving forward, it’s time to look at more of the businesses in the community that come together with the purpose of forming the foundation that makes Oroville what it is. Businesses like The Boss Burger, a popular place to eat for students and community members alike. A place where you can be guaranteed to run into someone you know and in the process, have one heck of a hamburger. To not only have a great burger but also, to have fries to go along with it and either a shake or a coke to wash it all down with is part of the experience when you decide to eat something at “The Boss”. So check them out at 2482 Montgomery Street in Oroville.
In keeping with the theme of business and food, the next business to consider is Applebees, located at 2160 Feather River Blvd. Another popular establishment that offers a variety of yummy offerings and also has the ever popular option of ordering over the phone and picking it up using the “Curbside To Go” option. A popular way to enjoy a nice meal and to be able to do so either in one of the booths in the restaurant, or in the comfort of your own home after picking it up from the restaurant. If this sounds good, give them a call at 534-4500.
For the final food option to be considered this month, it keeps with the theme of food and also stays with the concept of history and community. In this case, the restaurant to be considered is Tong Fong Low. Located at 2051 Robinson Street, Tong Fong Low is a restaurant that has earned a reputation over the years as being a place where you can get really great food. With the variety of options that they offer, even the most discriminating of eaters, especially those that like Chinese food, will surely find something that they will enjoy. So with these different restaurant options mentioned, as well as the others that are present throughout town, make sure to take the time to honor the mothers in your life on May 11th by spending the day with them over a nice meal and good conversation that will undoubtedly follow.
