Louis here…

Have I a lot to tell you this month!  My mom and dad left me with Alex and Kathi for a week—took me over there at 4 am!  Huh!  Just climbed back into my bed and went to sleep.  Too early for me!  Anyway when I awoke, all was good.  Alex and Kathi were taking care of me. Then on the next night, mom’s friend, Carol, came by.  She got the keys to our house, but didn’t take me with her.  What!?  Didn’t see her for four days.
While I was visiting with Alex and Kathi, they had friends over for dinner.  Two of the friends bought their dogs.  One I already know, nice little thing called Partee.  But the other one!  Huh, an Alpha, if I ever met one.  She kept trying to hump us.  Doesn’t she know that is a male thing, not for females?  Well, we had to keep shaking her off.  Finally Partee ran under the coffee table to get rid of her, and I took my head and sent her flying.  But it didn’t slow her down! Anyway, we survived her.
On Friday Carol came back and took me home!  Great, now I can spend days in Dad’s chair, not having to worry about Dad using it.  Carol sat on the sofa. I also have my dog door; so I can go out whenever I want.  It is hot and muggy here this time of year.  Carol takes me for a walk every morning.  I like her, because she lets me roam on my leash. Unlike Paulette who makes me walk next to her.  I HATE that!
Evenings are nice, we have dinner, and she always gives me something different to eat.  We take rides in the golf cart each day to get the mail. The first night I went to my room to sleep, but the next night, I figured if I didn’t go maybe she wouldn’t make me.  I was right, for the next 10 days, I slept in Dad’s chair at night.  Nice and comfy.  Boy, when they return they are not gonna like this!  But, I like it just fine.
The days are going by fast, just bee bopping around the house.  Miss running at night with my Mom on the golf course, but Carol is very nice to spend time with.  She goes out during the day for an hour or two, but we spend the evenings watching TV in the cool, air conditioned house!
Finally Carole put me in Dad’s car, and we were off somewhere at night.  Not sure where.  We stopped in a lot near the airport, and finally a phone call came, and Carol took off. Whoa, my mom and dad were standing on the curb!  I was so excited to see them.  My mom hugged me, and I kissed her, and Dad, well he was so happy to see me.  I sat on his lap all the way home and just let him hug me.  I kissed him, too!  Looks like things will be getting back to normal.
Night came, and Mom said “time to go nite nite, Louis.”  I just looked at her with my big, brown eyes and hoped she didn’t mean it.  But as luck would have it, she picked me up and took me to my room!  Drat, same old routine again.  But I am glad they are back; the house was lonely without them.
