Lenn Goldmann’s New California Abstracts

Water media paintings in Goldmann’s “New California Abstracts” exhibit
at Avenue 9 Gallery (Dec. 6 to Jan. 11) shift and shimmer in layers of
fusing colors.

Two years ago, Lenn transformed his painting style from realism to
abstraction.  Lenn states: “It frees my imagination to just start
improvising on a blank sheet of paper without a subject in mind.
However, I soon discovered that my new abstract paintings still come
from my life experiences. I’ll start free form doodling and gradually
hints of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the fog appear.  You can never
erase your personal art language.  No matter how abstract, my
paintings are still landscapes that suggest lakes, rivers,
thunderheads and waterfalls. There’s no escaping my inner symbolism,
and why would I want to?  It is who I am.”

The reception for New California Abstracts is on Friday Dec. 6 5-8.
Charlie Robinson and Lew Langworthy will perform Jazz,   Goldmann will
give a talk on Jan. 11, 2pm.
Avenue 9 Gallery is at l80 East 9th Avenue and is open Wed. through
Sat. from noon to 5pm., 879-1821.
