FOCUS Film Festival: Educating and Inspiring Our Community
FOCUS Film Festival has announced their annual celebration of diversity and inclusion through film will be held in October at Chico State. Each year the Festival kicks off with a film screening at Sierra Nevada’s Big Room and continues on to a full day of documentary and narrative films, workshops, and a reception for the winners of the Short Film Competition. This year, however, FOCUS Film Festival has announced several changes.
The 8th Annual FOCUS Film Festival and Short Film Competition will once again kickoff at the Big Room on a Thursday, but will continue Friday and Saturday at Chico State’s Colusa Hall. This change in venue allows the Festival to show films in two theatres simultaneously as well as hold workshops and an art show in separate rooms. Adding a Saturday allows for more films, workshops, and more directors, actors, and experts to attend. Not only has the Festival itself been broadened, so has the variety of films selected for this year. Previously, the Festival focused largely on disability; this year, selected films will also focus on world views of such topics as diversity, poverty, and gender perspectives.
FOCUS Film Festival kickoff will begin Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Sierra Nevada’s Big Room and the event continues on Friday, Oct. 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Chico State’s Colusa Hall.
