Mark Alvarado Featured Artist through January 3
Mark Alvarado is the “Featured Artist” for the December art show at the Oroville State Performing Arts Center Lobby Gallery, sponsored by Artists of River Town. Mark is a self taught artist who tends to lean towards lots of experimentation. “Since he is self taught, he doesn’t know the rules regarding art so he is willing to try anything.” he says. He uses anything from brushes, palette knives to kitchen utensils to manipulate the paint on his canvas. Only when his subject begins to emerge does he focus on it, and about two thirds of the way through the painting he finally knows what the final painting will look like. He loves this approach because it is full of surprises. He enjoys the journey as much as the destination when he paints and that is what attracts him to the arts. Visit the show Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Other artists participating are Don Becktel, Jean Burg, Dawn Cozine, Jill Farris, Tom Hedge, Roxanne Kelly, Ken Kelsoe, Joan Phillips, Jon Shult, Heather Walker, Walton Walker, Mike Williams. The show opens December 6th and closes January 3rd when another show will be installed. There is no charge and children are encouraged.
