Help for Local Fire Victims
If you have just lost your home & the contents therein due to the recent Butte County fire or you have items that you want to donate for fire victims, please know that there are multiple resources for you. I’m listing the ones that we are aware of as we go to press on June 20 for our June 24 issue. (Unfortunately we had no listings when we went to press on June 13 for our June 17 issue.)
In Paradise, the Center for Spiritual Awareness at 789 Billie Road (between Skyway and Oliver) is one place to contact. They are collecting clothing, non-perishable food, toys for kids, cookware, sheets, pillows, furniture, appliances, household items, etc. Their website: www.paradisecrs.com will accept offers of large appliances and furniture to be matched up with those in need. Donations are accepted Mon-Thurs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Questions can be directed to 877-5673, 872-1875 or 327-7337.
Citizens of Paradise are also urged to contact the Chamber of Commerce, 5550 Skyway or call them at 877-9356 for further places to donate or to get items needed.
Oroville has also collected hundreds of items for those who need assistance due to the fire. The Oroville RV/Boat & Self Storage at 2750 S. 5th Ave. has clothing, shoes, bedding, food, furniture and personal items. Please bring your Red Cross Client Assistance Card in order to receive items. Call 533-9900 for more information or come in.
Although we have no direct knowledge of this, we suspect that many churches and thrift shops In Paradise, Chico and Oroville have also gathered items for those who lost so much in this tragic fire.
