5K Run/Walk, June 21
This year, Youth Nexus applied for a $2,000.00 grant sponsored by Youth Venture to create a project that aims to make a worldly change. Youth Nexus, made up of youth ages 14-18 years old chose to create a walk/run to raise awareness of the genocide occurring in Darfur, Sudan in Africa. This group of High School students from Butte County chose to collaborate with Chico’s Peace and Justice Center and the Human Relations Network of Butte County for support. Youth Nexus initiated this grand project and is working hard to follow through with it. The funds raised at the event will go towards the “Save Darfur Coalition” and the “Genocide Intervention Network”. Adult admission will be charged $20.00 and Children under age 13 will be charged $15.00 for pre-registering. Both include a t-shirt for the walk with a logo designed by Youth Nexus.
