New Fountain Installed in Downtown Oroville

Downtown Oroville had a new drinking fountain installed at the corner of Bird and Myers St.  This project reflects the latest in cooperation amongst many groups of people interested in improving the downtown shopping district.
The Oro Dam Cruisers once again wanted to give something back to the downtown area and this year they decided to purchase a drinking fountain.  The ODBA Beautification committee began working with the City of Oroville Parks & Tree Department to find just the right fountain and location.  After much research a decision was made and the fountain was ordered.
ODBA ordered the plaque thanking the Oro Dam Cruisers (see photo), the city crew prepared the site and the fountain was installed on May 7, 2008.  The cost for the fountain was $2800, and it is handicap accessible. The Oroville Downtown Business Association wants to thank Bob Buskirk, president of the Oro Dam Cruisers, for the cruisers ongoing support of the downtown district and for bringing the Gold Rush Car Show to downtown.  Pictured left to right:  John Casner, chairperson Beautification Committee; Wade Atteberry, City of Oroville Parks & Trees Department.; and Bob Buskirk, President Oro Dam Cruisers.
