Quilt Guild Show, May 10 & 11

Oroville Piecemakers Quilt Guild is hard at work readying for the May 10th and 11th quilt show at the Municipal Auditorium on Myers St. in downtown Oroville.  Co-chairs, Colleen Grogan and Jan Framer have been working very hard to make sure this is an event that you will enjoy.  The quilt show is very important for the Piecemakers. It is their big fundraiser for the year.  All proceeds are used to enable them to put more quilts into our community.  Admission is $6 at the door.
This year’s show “Community Service, Who We Are” will feature Oroville Piecemakers’ role in the community and showcase the small quilts and items that are donated to the local agencies, as well as larger quilts, wall hangings and wearable creations made by members.
New this year will be The Quilter’s Market.  This area will feature quilts and quilted items made by members for sale during the show.  If you at looking for one-of-a-kind gifts, this is a great place to shop!  Buy something truly unique for birthdays or for Christmas.
In addition to the quilts, Nancy Clayton has lined up vendors to bring their wares.  This will include fabric, notions, books, etc.  They come to us from different areas of California, so it is sure to be fun shopping!
Ann Bruggeman and committee are making up baskets for the Boutique Raffle.  Make sure you don’t miss that booth!  And when you get hungry, go over and see Dorothy Welton, she is in charge of the kitchen. There will be delicious choices waiting for you there.
Also new this year will be a one-day raffle on Saturday.  A car theme quilt will be raffled on May 10th in the late afternoon, before the end of the Gold Rush Car Show.  Tickets will be available Saturday only.  Look for the quilt in the downtown area; it will be moving around.
The climax of the show will be the drawing for the “Simply Red” opportunity quilt on Sunday afternoon.  “Simply Red” is a gorgeous red quilt with stunning black stars.  Made and donated by Sue Kurtz, it is a wonderful addition to any room.
Oroville Piecemaker welcome anyone with a love of fabric to come to their meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Palermo Grange Hall, 7600 Irwin Ave. in Palermo.  For those of you that work, don’t feel left out!  The Moonlighters meet at 6 p.m. on the same day at the same place!  No excuses—come on down.  They’ll even buy you a cup of coffee!
