Oroville Public Meeting, April 10


The YMCA is gearing up for its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 12th. Many of activities will be available for the whole family to learn about a variety of ways to put play in their day. This free event will run rain or shine and includes fun, engaging and creative activities to encourage children and families to adopt behaviors that support a healthy lifestyle. YMCA Healthy Kids Day is part of YMCA Activate America, a national initiative designed to help children and adults discover and sustain healthier ways to live.  
Activities taking place at the YMCA will include fitness challenges; healthy food samplings; improve you smile dental information; the Literacy Coach; and, water safety so bring your swimsuit and a towel. Parents can get connected by participating in activities with their kids. A free YMCA giveaway for parents with tips on raising healthy, active kids will be available.
It is also an opportunity to register for YMCA summer programs like Day Camp that begins June 5th, swimming, water sports, swim lessons, and Resident Camp at beautiful Bear Valley. There are also programs for adults such as aqua fitness, muscle strengthening class, and a Baby and Me program for parents with children under the age of five years. No need for kids or adults to be bored this summer when YMCA has so many activities and programs right here in our community.
For 94 years the YMCA has developed programs that have helped improve the physical, social, emotional and spiritual health for the community of Greater Oroville and Butte County.  Participation in YMCA health and wellness programs such as Healthy Kids Day provides kids and families a chance to build friendship and community; a sense of well-being and confidence; and, improved physical, mental and cognitive abilities.
