Shoes That Fit
Join Hobbie Auto Center and Nelson’s Footwear by donating during the fourth annual shoe and sock drive now through March 31 to benefit the Oroville Police Department’s Shoes That Fit program.
“The success of our Shoe and Sock Drive has come largely from the support of this community. Local businesses and organizations have shown an overwhelming amount of support during the last three years and we hope this year is no exception, ” said Marcia Chipperfield, marketing executive for Hobbie Auto Center.
The OPD’s Shoes That Fit Program is designed to provide needy Oroville elementary school children, who have out-grown or worn-out their shoes, with a new pair of tennis shoes and six pairs of new socks. Since 2001 the OPD has provided shoes and socks to local youth in need so they can attend school in comfort and with dignity.
In the last three years 534 pairs of shoes and 2238 pairs of socks were donated to the Oroville Police Department during the shoe and sock drive at Hobbie Auto Center.
If you would like to make a contribution to the Shoe & Sock Drive, bring a new pair of tennis shoes, size 11 children to 11 adult, with six pairs of new socks per pair of shoes, to the showroom at Hobbie Auto Center, 1250 Oro Dam Blvd., Oroville, through March 31.
When you purchase a new pair of tennis shoes from Nelson’s Footwear, 1462 Myers Street in downtown Oroville, for a donation to the shoe and sock drive through March 31, they will match that donation with another pair of tennis shoes. Nelson’s Footwear will also offer a 20 percent discount on all socks purchased for the drive.
Hobbie Auto Center has been family owned for over 70 years. It boasts a full line of Chevrolet, Cadillac, Toyota and quality pre-owned vehicles along with full service parts and service departments.
