Calif. 100th Women’s Right to Vote Gridley Event, January 27

To honor and celebrate the California Centennial of the Women’s Right to Vote, the League of Women Voters of Butte County has secured a traveling California Centennial Exhibit, produced by the International Museum of Women and the California History Center Foundation. It is currently on display at the Gridley Museum on Kentucky and Hazel in Gridley.
The League will host a wine and cheese reception and short program on January 27 at the Gridley Museum from 6:30-8 p.m. The event is in partnership with the Gridley branch Library.
The Centennial exhibit will remain at the museum, and then will be moved to the  Gridley branch library, 299 Spruce Street.  In partnership with the museum, on February 12 a tea, movie, and discussion will be held at the library.
The exhibit will travel throughout the county through March, 2012, and will be at Butte College for a program on February 23, and then to Chico at the Bell Memorial Union on CSU campus for the remainder of its time in Butte County. Reception times in those venues will be announced in the coming weeks.
Please join us in celebration and appreciation of the thousands of women and men who struggled for women’s suffrage since the mid-1800’s. The county coordinator for this exhibit is Eileen Burke-Trent. To get your organization or school involved, call 846-4444 or email: e.burketrent@yahoo.com
