"Slap that Canvas!"
A Creative Painting Collaboration
The Butte College Art Gallery has put a twist on the traditional exhibition experience. Slap That Canvas! --the first art show of the 2010-2011 academic year-- is an invitation to co-create paintings and drawings, along with members of the community, Butte College faculty and students. Eleven large blank canvases and large sheets of Lenox paper wait on easels. Everyone is welcome and supplies are provided on site or anyone can bring their own supplies too.
The emphasis of the show is a dialogue between design elements and principles, and an experience in co-creation. The canvas becomes a conversation.
Join us in this work in process exhibit which opens on Monday, August 23 through Tuesday, September 7 to paint. On Wednesday, September 8 from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. we will host a reception and silent auction of Slap That Canvas! artwork that is free and open to the public. The exhibit will remain on display through Thursday, September 16.
The Butte College Art Gallery is located on the main Butte College campus, 3536 Butte Campus Drive, in the new ARTS Building closest to parking lot 3. Normal gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours on Wednesday until 7:30 p.m. The gallery may also be seen by appointment.
