Louis Here

I have had a good three days, that is, of being good! Just when they think I am going to be a good dog, I do stupid things. Cant help myself. Guess that is what a puppy does. I am now 5 months old, what do they expect, perfection? There is now a box under the end table, one of those picture boxes, where you can store all your photos. Well mine, which has my picture on the top holds all the plug extensions that go to the TV, hot plug, lights on the tables, etc. Dad put them all together in a box so I cant play with them. Just going to have to find something else to do. I have a basket with toys, but you know, new things are more fun. Take the rug that goes into the bedroom, it has little loops on it. I love to pull those loops out. In fact, I pulled half of them out while Mom was in the office and Dad was taking a nap. This time I didnt have time to run outside, so I just dove under the bed. Its great, they cant get to me if I stay right in the middle. Its cool under here and I can hide all day long!
Last week Mom washed all the bathroom throw rugs. She hung them in the yard to dry in the sun on the backs of the patio chairs. Big mistake, she forgot about me. I pulled them all down, chewed one of them up, another day under the bed! Boy, she gets mad at the slightest things! I never liked that shower rug anyway. I cant seem to stand things on chairs, hampers, etc. If my mom puts her clothes on top of the hamper in the bathroom, it just means I am going to pull them off. Dad puts his clothes on his chair by his bed. Not. . .I pull them off too.
On Thursday, the gardeners come and mow and blow. I get locked in the courtyard so I cant help them. Actually, I run in front of the mower and bark. Anyway, while I am in the courtyard, I explore. Found this little green thing in the ground, pulled it out and started chewing on it. Dad came out to see where I was, and guess what? I was in trouble again! I was chewing on the top of the drain pipe. Now it has a brick on it so I cant pull it out. The other one has a turtle sitting on it. They keep eliminating my playthings. Oh well, will have to find other things to do for fun.
We have new neighbors. They are soooo nice, Paulette has her morning coffee on the patio and comes out to visit with me. I cant see over the top of the brick wall without standing on my hind legs, so I just dragged one of the patio cushions over to the wall and stood on it. Much easier to see them and visit. Dont know why its such a big deal! So it gets wet when the sprinklers come on, I am sure it will dry! But as usual, I get in trouble for taking it off the chair.
When Mom tried to put the umbrella up and secure it at the base, oooops I chewed the plastic knobs. They are broken now and cant be tightened. Hey I did that months ago. You never caught it then, so why the big deal now. But they didnt get it and I was sitting in the corner of the yard again!
Had a great visit with my brother Max last week. He just never changes. Still hyper, ran me all over the yard. Takes my bear and tries to run away with it. That is my humping bear! When I need to feel like Alpha 1, I use my bear. My Mom is alpha 1, Me alpha 2 and Dad is alpha 3. When Dad suggested that we get another dog to keep me company, she said What, do you want to be alpha 4? Guess I am an only dog. Anyway Max is smaller than me, guess the runt is always a little behind in size. But what he lacks in size he makes up for in personality. He runs all over my yard, never stops, and I am frothing at the mouth by the time he leaves. I need a nap after that workout! He is fun to visit with, but I couldnt live with him, too sketchy!
Had my first sleepover last weekend. Spent the weekend with Alex and Kathi. What great people! They keep a cupboard full of treats for visiting dogs, and I just love them. I got to spend two nights with them while Mom and Dad went somewhere. What fun, they took me to visit Calli a dog friend of theirs. We played all day and had fun, but that night I was so tired, I didnt even eat dinner. I just collapsed around 8 and went to sleep. No wonder they love me. If they keep wearing me out like that, I will sleep like that every night. But of course they havent figured out yet that dog treats with beef in them can be deadly! If only given chicken or turkey, I am ok, but give me beef or pork, and look out, clear the room and get out the room deodorizer. I can be deadly! Which they found out the hard way! My digestive system doesnt handle beef or pork well! Mom and Dad dont even keep it in the house in my treats! I get veggie or chicken treats. Thats it!
Weather here has been great, Mom likes to take walks so she has started taking me with her. Not always a good idea as she found out. I can get about three quarters of the way around the block, then its over. I just find a shady spot and sit down. And I mean I sit down and wont budge! My short legs can only take so much walking and I get tired. Mom then has to carry me the rest of the way home. How embarrassing for us. Her for having to carry me, and me for being such a wuss. But cant help myself, I am still a puppy and I get tired. Hope she doesnt do this when its hot, will only get about 200 yards before I sit down. This physical fitness routine is for people and dogs with long legs, not us short guys!
