Its All About Color! Now through August

Avenue 9 Gallery & Art Guild’s “Playing with Primaries” exhibition (July 16-August 20) will jump start the color awareness of all who walk in the door.   One wall hung with art dominated by red, another with blue, and another with yellow will make viewers intensely aware of the psychological and sensory impact of primaries.  Is it true that blue can calm anxiety, or that yellow stimulates optimism, and that red encourages romance? These primary colors form art’s building blocks, since they cannot be created through mixtures of other colors. Although artists usually use a wide range of colors, over thirty relished the challenge of exploring the expressiveness of one primary per artwork.
Each Saturday “Color Play Activities” will encourage visitors to play with primaries themselves.  Regular hours of Avenue 9 Gallery are Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 5pm.  For further information call 879-1821 or visit www.avenue9gallery.com.  The gallery is located at l80 E. 9th Avenue (not Street), just East of the Esplanade.
