Chico Performances Announces 2010-2011 Season


In its annual Thank You party, May 26th, Chico Performances announced their upcoming 2010-2011 season performances. Kicking off the season on September 1st will be the 1980s rock super-group, Asia.
As always, Chico Performances is offering a variety of opportunities to see live performances of music, comedy, dance, and family performances both locally and worldwide.
Some of the highlights of the upcoming Chico Performances season include: blue grass and banjo from Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers (Oct. 2), the comical Broadway musical, Monty Pythons Spamalot (Jan. 27), acoustic guitar wizard, Tommy Emmanuel, and the poetic words of Maya Angelou (Feb. 17th).
Come laugh with the improv comedy of Chicago City Limits: America Idles (Nov. 19), or the all-female cast in Menopause the Musical (Feb. 13). Remember Paula Poundstones razor-sharp wit because she is Back Again! (April 8).
Bring the whole family to see the popular Peking Acrobats (Jan. 18), the scientific wonders of Toying With Science (Feb. 1), and the magical Spencers Theatre of Illusion (April 5).
Be sure to support Chicos local performers as well! From repertory dance sensations, Keeping Dance Alive! (March 11-12) to the youth performers of Mulan Jr. (Sept. 29) and School House Rock Live! Jr. (May 18). Also, dont forget the traditional classic, Nutcracker (Dec. 9-12).
For those looking for performances from around the world, as usual Chico Performances has them scheduled. Hear the funk, hip-hop, and world music of Ozomatli (Sept. 17), Bonga & the Vodou Drums of Haiti (Feb. 4), the Celtic Fiddle Festival (Sept. 22) and the music and dance from Bali with Gamelan Çudamani (Oct. 28).
Chico Performances offers more than entertainment but education as well! Come hear Orville Schell & David Breashears multimedia presentation on climate change in the Himalayas (Nov. 5). Also speaking is Naomi Judd as she shares her story and wisdom gained through her fight with hepatitis C. We are proud to host William Kamkwamba, author of this years Book in Common, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (April 14).
For those who enjoy Americana and folk music come hear Jonny Langs riffs (Sept. 9), acoustic blues of Ruthie Foster & Eric Bibb (Oct. 26), and the jazz fusion of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet (Feb. 25).

Series Tickets to all Chico Performances events go on sale July 6, 2010.
