Oroville’s First Friday, July 2, 2010

In an ongoing tradition of First Fridays in downtown Oroville, the Oroville Downtown Business Association is presenting Fireworks Safety Fun Night from 4pm to 7pm on Bird Street. This free family event will have activities for the kids and they can get a picture with Jack Splash, Orovilles water safety mascot. The stores will also be open until 7pm and some stores will have special sales on clothing, jewelry and gifts.
A special fireworks display at 6:45pm will demonstrate the safe way to manage fireworks this Fourth of July. The YMCA and the Oroville City Fire Department are working together on this event to help educate the community on fireworks safety. Being able to use fireworks on the 4th of July is tradition that many want to see continued in Oroville states Celeste Silva, Director of the YMCA. That is why we feel it is important to educate kids and families to handle them safely and responsibly.
