Call Me The Newcomer

(by Della Bacon - May 14, 2010)

I like people. I adore happy people, who look for the good in others. I love being a part of a small community, that gets more exciting each year when the season changes from rain and cold, to summer fun and games. I believe Oroville is experienced in entertaining, like none other, in the North State. Positive people turn lemons into lemonade, and history into fun-stuff and exciting adventure. Historical Downtown Oroville is one of my favorite places to visit. There is an abundance of parks, recreation, places to shop...and of course interesting museums and historical places to visit.
So whats new in Oroville...If you like to sow your oats...check out the new thread store. I did and got rid of my stiff upper lip. You can, and get Rockin Brows at a most reasonable price. Its not a tattoo and there is no ear-piercing, (not one spool of thread either)...Heather & Chandra will take your hairs away...Its better than a wax job!. My
Babys Closet is close by and is chuck full of gently used baby clothing, and furniture...When you want to be pampered you can telephone Shear Elegance and ask Maggy or Mary to set you up with a Body Wrap Session, 530-539 8193. Hair Do? Check out Bella Donna Salon, 1574 Huntoon Street. I recently discovered a personal trainer at Anytime Fitness...when I grow up, I want to look just like Teri Hollingsworth...you can hire her to inspire you. Remember exercise is good for the body, as well as the brain. Stephanie Jones is the sophisticated hair-stylist at Chemical Mayhem which is located inside Tracy Grants, Evolve, where you have the opportunity to go from ordinary to fashionable to Oh Honey! Is that really you? After you save X-#-$...be sure to trot up Huntoon Street and say hello to Dawna Nielsen at Induge. If you have ever known Dawna and Steve Nielsen, you have surely learned Steve is a workaholic and Dawna is now following in his footsteps. Steves Metal Art is on display at Indugle....So check it out!
Talking about art, Jon Shulte has an art studio and teaches art, private or groups. Why this fascinates me? He assured me he can teach me how to use both sides of my brain. You can check out his fabulous studio on Montgomery Street...Broken Color Studio. He said he is open on weekends, located between Sank Park and St Thomas on Montgomery Street.
Lets go back to Montgomery Street...Oldies But Goodies still carries the most unique Juke Boxes in the State of California. He has new neighbors, Rosy Cheeks -- a Kids Boutique and Nookies a Grown Ups Lingerie Store, full of surprises...You can drop by The Golden Poppy for a delicious afternoon snack. AND...OR...send your hubby to the Montgomery Street Pub, to play pool, while you shop at Rubys Boutique and Red Fly...Orovilles Fashion Authority. If you are out and about during the dinner hour take the family to The River...fine dining and cocktails.
Thank you Cathelene Davenport for correcting me. You are 100% correct, The Iron Village has great food and terrific service...(thanks to Jenny and others...) About your Aunt Della? (Auntie Deanie), you are blessed to have an Aunt Della-Deanie...I bet she has a great sense of humor...Please keep writing Cathelene and be sure to pick up your Free Complimentary Tickets from Tammy DeLucia at The Digger Shopper & News office, located at 2057 Mitchell Ave. You have been personally invited to enjoy I WISH at the State Theatre...Saturday May 15th at 2 pm...I will be there. Look for the lady with the Gold-Clock-Purse and matching Gold Hat. Someone has to remember...We Live and Love In Gold Country! and The Fun Starts Here.......
I enjoyed a BBQ Tri-Tip treat at Oroville Ford Motors last week. It just happened to be the best darn beef Ive enjoyed in ages. Just between you and me...I am sure it came from a local meat market. (Was it Foothill Meats?) Actually, it doesnt matter where it came from, the point is, it was devoured by members of the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce, and prepared by none other than Chris Goodhue, long-time fixture at Ford Motors on Montgomery Street.
