Special Ag Workshops - Creating and Controlling Profit

When it comes to staying on the land and being profitable, are you feeling a bit stressed? The Butte and Glenn County Resource Conservation Districts are sponsoring a 4 day financial planning workshop designed to help landowners and managers create and control profitability on their farm or ranch.
The workshop provides a simple and effective step by step financial planning process for those not trained in developing sound financial plans. The consistent answer from farmers and ranchers who have already taken this class and been asked whether they would recommend this class to others has been yes, definitely!.
This unique hands-on workshop will also teach skills that ensure the financial plan is linked to managing the land environment and people relationships that are no less critical for success. Farmers and ranchers have found using a ‘holistic planning approach to address the complexity of managing an ag business is especially helpful.
Participants will learn how to use this step by step planning process and how it can be used in any operation. Between each class session, participants will have time to complete the few steps just learned for their own operation. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have developed their own financial plan for the coming year.
Instructors Richard King (USDA-NRCS) and Dr. Lee Altier (CSU Chico) learned this process at Holistic Management International and have been providing training to interested groups throughout northern California for 5 years. In addition, Rod Carter, AFM (Northern California Farm Credit) will address the importance of farm or ranch succession planning in the business.
The workshop will be held on certain Tuesdays from 8:30 -4:30. The first and second sessions will be held in Willows on January 26th and February 2nd. After a one week break, the third and fourth sessions will be held in Oroville on February 16th and 23rd.
There is a $150 fee per business for the seminar, materials, and lunch. Business partner pricing is available at $45 per additional participant. Registration is required by calling the Butte County RCD at (530) 534-0112x 116. Space is limited so please RSVP by ASAP. For more information visit www.buttecountyrcd.org.
