Antique Decorative Lights for Oroville’s State Theatre
Restoration efforts at Oroville’s State Theatre in the Historic Downtown District continues with the recent installation of decorative antique luminaries along Myers Street. The exterior of the building was recently painted and much of the decorative concrete sculpting has also been restored. The next step in the exterior renovations include repairing the decorative spindles, realigning the business windows facing Myers street, and installing tile on the surfaces that previously were rock. Finally new red cloth awnings will be installed over each of the business windows transforming the building to its original look when it first opened in 1928. Interior work also continues which will add to the potential of the overall restoration project which is seen as a fabulous anchor to the downtown area.
The Theatre, owned by the City of Oroville, is managed by the Private Industry Council (PIC). The restoration project is being managed by the City with funds coming from various grants and the Oroville Redevelopment Agency.
