Oroville Light Parade, December 12, 2009

The lights say it all, Holly Jolly Christmas, at Oroville’s Annual Parade of Lights.  This year’s event is on Saturday, December 12th starting at 6pm.  The Oroville Downtown Business Association has chosen Bob Hedrick as this year’s Grand Marshall.  Bob is representing the California State Old Time Fiddlers and was chosen for his support of the Oroville community.
There are a number of return entries already in the parade lineup including the 2008 1st place PG & E float.  The Knights of Columbus will be in the parade with their “Santa Maria Flagship of 1492” in 1/5 authentic scale.  The Palermo Band & Flag Drill Team and the Central Ishi Hill Middle School Band will be marching in the parade this year. Oro Dam Cruisers are registered, in particular John Bramlage’s 1955 Dodge pickup. John has only missed one parade since the first one in 1996.
The announcer’s stand will be at the intersection of Bird & Myers Streets with Bill Tronson & David Glover providing commentary.  This year’s judges and vote counter will be Gary Norwood & Jennifer Carvalho, Oroville Chamber Directors and Julie Simon & Dean Stefanides, Oroville Chamber Ambassadors.
Parade entries are still being accepted.  You can get more information from Sue or Josh at 533-3430 or download an entry application at www.orovillechamber.net event calendar for the Light Parade on December 12.
The parade route begins at Huntoon & Montgomery St and travels to Lincoln, Bird, Downer and back to Montgomery ending at the Municipal Auditorium parking lot.
