The Sleeping Beauty Ballet, December 11-13, 2009

Join Chico Community Ballet as they bring Tchaikovskys classic story of Sleeping Beauty to life on stage in Laxson Auditorium this December. This classical ballet will feature classic music, colorful sets, elaborate costumes, beautiful dancing and is the perfect family outing to highlight this years holiday season.
Dont miss the enchanted story of Aurora, the fairies and the Prince as they fight to defeat the 100 year sleeping spell cast on the Princess on her 18th birthday by the evil Caraboose. Watch as the performers bring the story to life in a night of music, dance, and magical scenery. The performance will be a memorable experience for the whole family to enjoy.
This years performance will feature Jake Bevens in the lead as the Prince. Jake has been dancing for 12 years and has starred in other lead roles such as Puck in Chico Community Ballets performance of Midsummer Nights Dream. Bevens is 19 years old and is actively pursuing a career in dance. He is not only a ballet dancer, but also a jazz, tap, hip-hop and break-dancer as well.
Starring alongside Bevens will be Cameryn Titus, performing as Princess Aurora. Titus is 21 years old and currently a senior at Chico State University. Titus has been dancing for 17 years and has participated as the lead in other performances such as the Nutcracker in 2004, and Cinderella in 2007. Titus also partakes in other forms of dance such as jazz and modern but sticks to ballet as her main form. Titus has just returned from spending time abroad in France and is excited to get back in the swing of things by dancing beside Bevens and bring the enchanted love story to life just in time for the holiday season.
This highly anticipated performance will feature 33 talented performers from the Chico Community Ballet, including over 24 children, all of whom attend schools within the Chico community. The ballet also features 3 dancers from Chico State, and 15 returning Chico community alumni.
Schools which feature children from the performance include; Chico Senior High, Pleasant Valley High, Durham Intl. Chico Junior, Marsh Junior, Bidwell Junior, Marigold Elementary, Emma Wilson, Little Chico Creek, McManus, Blue Oak, Core Butte, Chico Country Day, Notre Dame and Nord Country.
Performers from the Ballet are offering the community a chance to enjoy a fundraising event held at Barnes and Noble on Tuesday Nov. 17th. Dancers will be performing scenes from Sleeping Beauty in full costume. Dancers will also be holding a downtown Christmas preview on Sunday Nov 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
Audience members will also get the chance to interact with the cast and crew at an autograph party immediately following the Dec. 12th 2 p.m. matinee performance. Performers will be available to meet and sign autographs for audience members.
