Chico Downtown Tree Lighting, December 4, 2009
The spectacular City Plaza will glow with the joy of Christmas at the annual Community Tree Lighting on Friday, December 4th at 6:00 p.m.
A display of holiday spirit and cheer is planned for the Tree Lighting - making it one of Chicos favorite traditions, year after year. At 5:30 p.m., pre-show entertainment will be provided by the hardest working band in SNOW business, The Yule Logs. At 6:00 p.m., the show will kick off with a musical program featuring the Sound of the Foothills and the Childrens Choir of Chico.
The Citys mayor will address the crowd and just in time to light the tree, Santa Claus will arrive aboard the Chico Fire Departments antique engine. Following the ceremony Santa will visit youngsters, making his list of all the good boys and girls. The event will conclude at 8:00 p.m. and will take place rain or shine.
The Community Tree Lighting is produced by the Downtown Chico Business Association and funded in part by the City of Chico. Generous sponsors include: University of Phoenix, Tri Counties Bank, KNVN-TV24, KHSL-TV12, CW-10, 95.7 KALF, 93.9 KFM, 96.7 KPIG, and 107 The Point.
This year the DCBA presents a new full-color seasonal program, An Elfs Guide to Holiday Cheer. The guide features downtown holiday events and gives Kudos to those Giving Back...plus it inspires perfect gifts ideas.
