Bob Buskirk Surprised by Santa
Santa arrived just in time to take orders for everyone’s Christmas list at the recent Downtown Business Association’s annual holiday dinner, but there was a special presentation that took priority. The spotlight was on Bob Buskirk, President of the Oro Dam Cruisers and “father” of the Gold Rush Car Show that is held in conjunction with Feather Fiesta Days every May. Bob reported to the group that the Gold Rush Show is the largest single day show in northern California and had over 800 entries in 2009. As the president of the cruisers Bob was being honored for his year round commitment to Oroville events including the car show, the annual Parade of Lights and the Veteran’s Parade. The cruisers support community projects throughout the year including the summer band series at Riverbend Park , Movies in the Park, the high school automotive class as well as benches and drinking fountains in the downtown historic district. All who know Bob appreciate how much he has done and continues to do for our community.
