The scarecrows & signs are out on the streets of Paradise & Magalia announcing that the Gold Nugget Museum, 502 Pearson Road, Paradise is proud to present the 20th Annual, “Days of Living History,” on Saturday, September 14 and Sunday, September 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors, young and old alike, can understand, “hands on,” life as it was on the Ridge from 1850 to 1950 while they attend this successful annual event. Admissions are still only $5.00 per person, children 3 and under are admitted free.
A wonderful outing for the whole family with many different activities and displays are planned to help visitors experience what it was like to live, work and play in the “good old days.” Some of the favorite adventures planned are: Washboard Laundry; Candle making; Gold Panning; Bread Making; Carpentry Shop making bird feeders; and many, many more. These “hands on” events will provide items for the children to take home. One hundred volunteers will be on hand to help make this event a success.
The beautiful park like setting of the Gold Nugget Museum has a creek running through it with a One Room Schoolhouse, Blacksmith Shop, Miner’s Shack, and many other buildings from the late 1800’s/ Wandering among the many museum grounds will be first person interpreters, so old & young alike may talk to someone reenacting a character from our local history.
This celebrated event will give insight to what our ancestors had to deal with in daily life. To make this experience most rewarding, children must be accompanied by an adult.
